Suttie Centre Sim Suite

The simulation suite in the Suttie Centre is a bookable resource for clinicians and educators with a full cohort of procedural models, high fidelity simulation models and recording capabilities. 

A range of medical equipment is in place, from general ward examination equipment to two anaesthetic machines, multiple pump and infusion devices and stocked resuscitation trolleys. Tutorial and teaching rooms are available, or for maximally high fidelity simulation options include a simulation room with VC link to a control booth, or an immersive sim room with four wall projection.

Enquiries and booking requests can be made via clinical skills or via the Suttie Centre room booking system.

Equipment

Mannequins: 

Adult, Junior and Baby CPR (Anne), NG tube insertion, ear examination, 3G simulation mannequins, pregnant abdomen models, stoma models, intimate examinations.

Procedural models: 

Airway management including intubation, arterial blood gas, venepuncture, IV cannulation, optical trainers, urinary catheterisation, thoracotomy, suturing, laparoscopy, injection trainers, joint aspiration, central line insertion.

Adjuncts/environment: 

Anaesthetic machine and portable ventilators, ward furniture, oxygen cylinders, observations stacks, ECG machines, defibrillators.

Clinical Skills Centre, Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin

This simulation area is a brand new, purpose built facility in Dr Gray’s Hospital for delivering a range of simulation based teaching and group teaching. Predominantly aimed at undergraduates who are hosted at regularly programmed sessions week to week, but with access for postgraduate or ad hoc sessions also available, this facility provides a wide range of simulation mannequins and models in a dedicated area of the hospital. 

High fidelity models can cover the range of simulation training for examination skills and resuscitation courses are also hosted. For bookings, contact gram.dunbarneybookings@nhs.scot

Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital Simulation Suite

This facility, located in the lower level of RACH, provides a high fidelity simulator in a clinical setting. The full range of procedural skills can be practiced here with a range of simulation mannequins for work in all paediatric age ranges. Regular MDT training is undertaken in the facility but the room and its resources can be booked for teaching if required.

Mastotrainer

Two Mastotrainer examination models are in use for assisting medical student training in examination skills. These are used in the Breast Clinic at Foresterhill and are used to supplement clinical teaching where opportunities can be unpredictable for teaching and training opportunities.
